D&D

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

So, I’m several weeks into my first D&D game, and last night we reached Epic Level. I started last night as a silver-brow human, and ended it as a half-fey, half-dragon. I got a spell that allows me to wish for things, so we camped out and made really sick, broken, brilliant characters.

So, here is a description of the party.

“Dad” is a half-fiend lynch – he is wearing a long black robe, and black cowl and has huge bat wings. If he lifts his hood he has pointy teeth, horns and empty eye sockets with red lights in them, and a rolled up scroll of paper stored in one eye. He also has two apprentices, one with a cowl, and one with a cloak. Oh, and an army of the undead following him, including (but not limited to) a bebalith, 2 giants, a ghost haunting it’s statue, and Bob, a skeleton with a tower sheild.

“Cat” was once a cat, but mysteriously transformed into a human, and then into a were-human. His natural form is a polar bear, but he can change into a human.

“Eric/Mort” is a half-celestial monk. He has golden eyes, brilliant white feathered wings, and looks incredibly beautiful. As a monk with a vow of poverty, he carries a staff and wears a loin cloth.

“Rosie”, or “The Dark Rose” as he prefers to be known, missed out on the wish session, and is currently just a Rouge with a stupidly high hide skill. This means that no-one actually knows what he looks like.

“Elia”, my character is a half-sand dragon, half-fey. She is covered in a irredescent golden scales, with golden split-pupiled eyes and long black hair with a silver streak in it. She has butterfly wings in gold, sandy brown, chocolate brown and brilliant red. And is followed by a puppy, a kitten, a gekko and a chicken.

The sixth member of our party “mum” is currently 5 by 5 by 5 blob of potentiality having lost her character sheet. She contributes to the adventure by making sarcastic comments.

This is one of the times I really, really wish I could draw…

Unfortunatly “wish” doesn’t work in reality.

Update on DSA and Word Count

Wednesday, May 16th, 2007

Word Count : 10513 words.
Pages : 69
Music : Geeky With Words – currently the Buffy/Angel love theme (which actually doesn’t have words…)
Current Procrastination of Choice : I have an exam tommorrow. Sterecus, Sterecus Morticus Sum*. I’m trying to revise and not panic but ’tis difficult. Oh, and Season 2 of Buffy, and sleeping.

DSA : The disabilities office said that the letter was bollocks – they phoned up the DSA people in Darlington, got passed around a call center in Glasgow, and eventually ended up writing “angry from Bradford” letters. All fun. Basic gist of what they say is that I will get an assesment, it’s only a matter of time. And I’ve got an appointment on Friday with the financy people to sort out my imminent (i.e. when my landlord catches up with me) financial crisis.

*I don’t care if it’s spelt wrong.

“Dear Ms Sophs

Tuesday, May 15th, 2007

Thank you for your application for Disabled Students Allowence. As the application has been made so late in your course, I am unable to authorise your attendence for a full Study Needs Assesment.”

Which means I’m gonna be having to make a bus trip to the local hospital at least twice a week for the next year, which works out at at least £7 a week which is about a quater of my weekly income, with no prospect of help from DSA.

Fan-fucking-tastic.

Running total 2

Thursday, May 10th, 2007

Word Count : 9634
Pages : 61
Pretty Pictures I want to put in : 3 so far.
Music : “Top 25 Most Played” which includes such delights as “Mandy Moore – Cry” and “Goo Goo Dolls – Iris”
Current Favourite Procrastination Method : Downloading 80’s kids tv. Currently Maid Marrian and Bucky O’Hare. And watching Heroes, and raving about Heroes, and aruging with the student loans company, and fantising about using D&D spells on the Student Loans Company. And realising just how much I HATE the Student Loans Company…honestly, phoning up for Disabled Students Allowence should be easy, it should be accessible. But no, they kept asking me questions, and I couldn’t answer them, so i gave the phone to the lady at the disabilities office and ran off.

She has probably phoned me, but I’ve lost me phone. Hopefully it’s at Sophia’s.

My body is shutting down

Thursday, May 10th, 2007

Again.

I woke up at 8 this morning, and then drifted off again – only to find it was 2pm when I woke up. I didn’t sleep well either – it was all dream sleep, which has left me really drained.

I don’t know what’s triggered this, but my body has a habbit of saying ‘thus far and no further’ at the most annoying moments possible. And a book deadline and an exam count as bloody annoying moments.

But I still have so much to do…i have just arranged a redelivery (I don’t know what it is – it might be a job application form…that’s all I can think of…), I have to go to the Disability Office, and I have to write…

And stay awake until at least 10 tonight, with no naps otherwise I’ll get into an “annoying sleep-in-the-day-awake-at-night” cycle.

Here endeth the rant.

Running total

Tuesday, May 8th, 2007

Yesterdays three words were “in the beginning”

Today’s word cound is 9289, which, despite the fact I’ve written MORE is about a hundred words less than my last word count…which confuses me slightly.

My current procrastination of choice is D&D, especially as I have now got a spell that makes me transform into a big, scary, good dragon, and a robe of an arch mage – which makes me very powerful.

I’m also ill. Nauseus, headache, dizzy, feeling sick. It started really suddenly at about 7pm, and given i’ve got 2 appoinments tommorrow for therapy I hope it’ll go away.

I don’t think it’s psychological – i feel too ill for that, but it is a possiblility.

Today

Tuesday, May 8th, 2007

I typed 3 words. Which is REALLY pants.

Tomorrow I will do better. Honest.

But that’s not what I want to blog about. My friend John (not to be confused with Jonny) went to Collectormania last weekend, and I told him to get me something, and gave him a mini list. He only came back with one of the list – a Stargate SG1 patch, but also with something completely unexpected. A Sophie Aldred signed photo. This makes my geek happy.

Also making my geek happy is that I am now a level 14 sorcerer in D&D – I have POWER, and the character that kept eating my pets (enemies which I had turned into fluffy small animals with Baleful Polymorph) has mysteriously changed into an elf (she was a half-dragon.)

Dear God I’m a geek…

Writing a book – Part 2

Sunday, May 6th, 2007

I’ve got about 2 weeks to the deadline, but LOADS to do.

And an exciting new obsession – knitting! I keep buying cheap wool, which is great, but I should be working not knitting. Or writing blog posts, or playing on facebook, or playing splashback, or going for walks, or doing any of the other thirty thousand things that my brain tells me to do instead of writing.

So I’m taking a leaf out of Wood’s book, and doing a running word count. So her’es my first one.

Total: 9376 words
Current Music: Angel, Live Fast Die Never
Procrastination Method of Choice: Heroes episode 20 (oh my God, how good? Must find geeks and squee, but I’m in York, and the geeks are in Bradford. But how amazingly amazing. I want next weeks. Now. And the rest of Doctor Who would be good too.)
