Apparently there is no way I can drop my hours, and the agency made it very clear that I was replacable. However I have taken today of sick, so that I can hopefully get through the next two weeks without crashing. It’s not much of a plan, but it’s all I’ve got at the moment.
I think that you are being too conscientious. You need to learn the rules of Work Club:
1. Don’t mention Work Club
2. Slack off whenever possible
3. Don’t mention Work Club
4. Pretend to work while surfing the net, reading a book or playing a game
5. Don’t mention Work Club
6. Try roleplaying at work – dress as an Orc or a Dork and see who notices
7. Don’t mention Work Club
8. Lock yourself in the loo. Climb over/under the door and then bring in furnishings, books etc and make a home away from home
9. Don’t mention Work Club
10. Start your own business at work. Sell things on eBay or run a consultancy business from the office. Organise a daily protest march against Health Cuts, low pay in the Health Service
11. Don’t mention Work Club
12. Join the union and become an active member and branch official
13. Don’t mention Work Club
14. Declare war on the agency and invade their office in a non violent and threatening way
15. If all else fails, tell them to stuff their job
Don’t know what to say; just wanting to encourage you – there’s a line by Kipling – if you can fill the unforgiving minute – sometimes, though, it’s more like the unforgiving week, or the unforgiving month – just hang in there!
